delicious, easy, warming supper for these chilly spring nights. i can thoroughly recommend for anyone who needs a quick comofort food fix.
make baking even more fun with these adorable bird cup measures. they’ll look great out on the worktop too when you’re not using them.

if we have the success i’m hoping for with our herb garden in the new house i may just have to invest in this fab herb dryer. a simple way to dry out herbs and flowers and it would look so pretty in the kitchen.

the husband is away tonight so he knocked up a little early valentine’s feast for me last night. he tried this jamie oliver recipe which turned out to be an absolute winner. he use thighs instead of legs and added new potatoes and cannellini beans and it was utterly delicious. definitely a good winter warmer and a new family favourite! thank you! x
i’m on the look out for a new grater as our current one is very old and awkward to use meaning i usually end up with grated cheese scattered all over the kitchen floor. both these have a fantastic ergonomic design and as well as containers to collect whatever you’re grating. i think my preference is actually for the gary rhodes number with the ceramic base, although both are very stylish.

a big thank you to my lovely sister for all my gorgeous birthday pressies, but especially for simon hopkinson’s wonderful book. i was first introduced to him when my aunt gave me ‘roast chicken and other stories’ a few years ago so i can’t wait to get cooking with his latest tome. have already spied some scrummy feasts including braised pork shin with saffron mash and pigeon and mushroom pie! well, that’s one way to stop the naughty pigeons pinching all the bird seed i put out…
i once accidentally ordered pig’s brain in a restaurant (my limited franglais meant i thought fromage de tete was some kind of cheese dish…) so i treated myself to this fantastic book with some birthday money last year in the hopes of educating myself a little. i intend to spend some of the cold wintry evenings ahead curled up on the sofa learning how to deal with trotters, pigs ears and chitterlings and will report back on any good findings and recipes!
it’s been a long day and it’s already dark, so there’s nothing else for it but a big glass of red wine and some lovely comforting food. sausages with boston baked beans is my latest favourite dish for a really simple, tasty, warming supper and luckily the husband is a huge fan too. we add a couple of extra carrots to up the veggie content and use borlotti beans as we think they’re tastier. yum!
