this is one of my favourite wedding presents. my very creative sister in law used shells and seaweed to create the image in the sand on lido beach in florida. the simple white frame really shows off the wonderful photo and i love the fact that you only notice the words once you get up close. it makes me smile every time i look at it, especially in these cold wintery months!

how inspired! if only i had a wedding to plan this year i would definitley be having a pork pie cake! also a cunning option for getting your future husband to take an active role in the wedding preparations…

i just adore this photo from our wedding last year. it was a complete fluke, but the baskets fitted perfectly in the alcoves so they were beautifully framed by the stunning windows. I have to confess that i wasn’t very good at drying out the petals for the confetti (the husband clearly didn’t buy me enough roses through our engagement) but the contributions from others meant we had an amazing quantity. my mother was particularly productive, although when the bags were retrieved from the airing cupboard we did find a stray pair of knickers nestled at the bottom of one of them! needless to say it provided much hilarity and on the big day when i felt nerves might overwhelm me i just quietly repeated to myself ‘confetti knickers, confetti knickers…’

looking forward to tucking into some delicious local ale down in devon this weekend which is making me feel nostalgic about the yummy beer we had at our wedding.  we sourced a barrell of ballards from a local hampshire brewery in nyewood and then made the sign to decorate it from an old piece of fence and some twine!

with our first anniversary only a couple of days away we won’t be newlyweds for much longer, but i still adore these little, retro love hearts we had made for the wedding.  they were piled up in a basket next to the coffee after dinner for anyone who needed a bit of extra energy on the dancefloor.

this time last year a certain little wedding provided the perfect opportunity to tuck into my mother’s amazing sloe gin.  we decorated the bottles (with a very apt disclaimer) and put one on each table.  needless to say it lasted a matter of minutes and certainly got the party going.  we will be off sloe picking in a couple of weeks to replenish stocks!
